Reverse-Osmosis Water Filters
By now you should realize that all drinking water is different. You can have two glasses of water that have two different tastes and two different looks. Some of these waters have impurities which could alter the look and taste, and who wants to drink bad tasting water? This is partially the reason that the bottled water industry has been booming over the past decade or so. But today you can find some really advanced home water filtration systems that can provide you with the same clean water you find in the store bought bottles.
There are a few different types of filtration systems out there and its good to know what each of them do. A carbon filter will remove residual chlorine odours along with some pesticides and even radon gas. Sediment filters will remove sand, rust and suspended minerals like iron. Distillation filters can remove organic compouds and bacteria. That being said many of the most toxic impurities that can be found in water (heavy metals like mercure, cadmium, lead, arsenic etc) are always best removed with a reverse-osmosis water filter (RO) system. These types of water filters are designed to treat the water in your home that you cook with and drink. It works by holding the treated water in a storage tank attached to the unit and delivers it, on demand, to the sing-mounted faucet. Keep in mind that this type of filtration system wastes a lot of fresh water so before installing make sure that you have your water tested to ensure this is the right fit for your home.
